Supplies
You must bring your own supplies. I can recommend some excellent supplies if you want. No toxic fumes allowed in class. For a paint thinner replacement I recommend Gamsol.

Level
Intermediate level. The Open Studio is not for the absolute beginner. You already have some painting experience.

How it Works
Come ready to paint! There is no formal structure in the Open Studio format. Bring a painting you are working on and I will give you tips throughout the class. Or, you will be given a subject to paint, either from a photo or from life. I have a great collection of reference photos.

Each week I will do one or some of the following:
Demo an oil painting or something
Have critique session
Discuss color theory
Discuss Composition & design
Explore painting techniques: such as scumbling, stippling, palette knife and others
Or we will discuss other aspects of the creative process

Also, sometimes students will be given a 15 to 20 minute small painting or drawing challenge that I will have prepared in advance. It is not required that students do the painting challenge but most students find them fun and educational.
